Every aircraft has a theory paper for it. You have to clear it before you fly that aircraft. Until you clear it, you can’t fly the aircraft for any purpose and once it gets endorsed on your license, you can fly the aircraft.
So suppose, you want to fly C172 for your training. You will have to first appear for a C172 specific paper. Post clearing it, you can get it endorsed on your training license and then you are allowed to fly it.
